La Fiesta!

MAY 8, 2026 (5:30pm - 8:00pm)

JSIS Gym & Cafeteria

La Fiesta is an annual celebration where our community comes together to honor the richness of Latin American culture and fund raise for our sister school in Puerto Vallarta, Juan de la Barrera in Puerto.

The festival also includes activities we host on behalf of our sister school, details below on this page

This year will include:

  • Food trucks (no pre-orders)

  • T-shirts! (Buy your T-shirt today to support the event)

  • Games (volunteers needed!)

  • El Mercadito (to support our sister school in Puerto Vallarta)

  • Letters and Donations to our Sister School (See more below!)

New! La Fiesta Shirts!

This year, we decided to commemorate La Fiesta with a t-shirt designed by our own JSIS community. Families from across Latin America shared their ideas and traditions to create something that reflects who we are!

Booths - Activities & Games

These activities and games are made possible by your volunteer support. Please sign up for a short (and fun) 15 minute shift.

Loteria

A traditional Mexican board game of chance, similar to bingo, but played with a deck of cards instead of numbered balls.

Banderas

Test your geography skills by placing flags on a map.

Crafts

There will be several crafts including papel picado, a Spanish fan, and Nicaraguan masks and hair beads.

Rayuela/Avioncito

A rayuela or avioncito (hopscotch) is painted on the ground with chalk. Kids take turn tossing beanbags and hopping between squares.

Sillas Musicales!

Dance games! A friendly game of musical chairs, necessary for any fiesta!

Quiet Room

A place for kids and families to take a break from the sensory overwhelm of school-wide events. (LSA Room)

Escuela Juan De la Barrera

Learn more about ours sister school in Puerto Vallarta!

Come learn more about the Juan De la Barrera School visit during Spring Break at the booths under the basketball hoop. Families, who just returned from this year's trip, will be there to answer any questions you may have.

Kids are invited to:

  • Write Notes! Stop by our note‑writing table to create messages for JDLB students

  • Donate Used Items! We’ll be collecting gently used school clothes, soccer pinnies, and similar items as donations.

El Mercadito

We’ll have a table featuring locally made crafts, artisanal hot sauces, and fun Bolsas available for purchase. These items were generously donated by the families who went on the trip, and all proceeds go to the JDLB school directly.
